Architecture of UMass Amherst

A building boom at UMass Amherst,  has changed the look and feel of the campus over the last two decades. This talk will focus on the architecture of the new buildings of UMass Amherst, which have been built in the last two decades, including some new “public private” buildings.

Stephen Schreiber, FAIA is an architect and chair of the Department of Architecture at UMass Amherst. He is former member and chair of the Planning Board, a former member of the Town Council, and a member and former chair of the UMass campus planning committee. He is currently president of the National Architectural Accrediting Board.  He and his family have lived near downtown Amherst for two decades. In April 2024 he led a popular walking tour of downtown Amherst
