Cambodian Immigrants in Amherst

May 31 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

In the 1980’s, hundreds of Cambodian refugees fleeing the Pol Pot regime came to the town of Amherst. Church and community groups mobilized to welcome them, arranging for housing, English lessons, and employment opportunities. This story is the subject of this year’s special exhibit at the Amherst History Museum; Joan Snowdon was instrumental in organizing the town’s multi-year efforts; her talk will tell some of the stories from that time.
