The conflict inUkrainehas us all thinking about war, in its various forms. There are a number ofwar memorialsin the town and its colleges, from the meditative war memorialat Amherst College with its panoramic view, to the Italianate Memorial Hall at UMass, and theCivil War tabletsnow in the Bangs center. And in 2018 Amherst College published anarticleabout the collegiate experience during World War I – once known as ‘the war to end wars’ – which mentions theBlack Cats of Amherst.
